Train your child about the value of money

 Rimi & Tina are reading in 10th standard in the same school. They are good friends of each other. Rimi has a little brother in her family, her mother is a housewife & father runs a small grocery shop which is the only source of income of  their family. Rimi is good in her studies, so her parents love her very much. Rimi dreams to be a professor in future. They have a simple family with a simple lifestyle.

Tina is born & brought up in a rich family. Her father is a real-estate businessman & her mother serves in a govt. office. Tina is the only child of her parents & obviously a pampered one. She gets immediately what she wants. She has never seen the face of scarcity in her life. She is habituated  in an aristocratic lifestyle. She loves watching movies  & wants to be a celebrity film star in future.

Rimi's father goes out for his shop very early in the morning & returns home after 9PM, her mother makes paper  pouches for their shop in her leisure time. Her parents do  much hardship to run their family. Rimi notices all these things which inspires her to establish herself in future so that she can relieve them from their hardship. After paying  shop rent & all other necessary expenses her father has little amount to save for future. They know the value of money in their life. So her  parents always teach their children how to  make better use of money. Rimi knows that her father  will not be able  to fulfil all her aspirations , so she  never urges  him to buy fashionable dresses , shoes & cosmetics etc. ; she always keeps  cool & happy with what is given to her. Judging the financial condition of her family she never complains.

Her father gives her Rs. 20/- every day as pocket money from which she saves Rs. 10/- & keeps it in her earthen piggy bank, when it is full she gets all money out of it  & buys all her necessary stationery  things for her education first cosmetics with the remaining money. Thus she grows the habit of savings & economy.

Tina's case is totally different here, she has no obligation to practise savings & becomes extravagance. She has an almirah-ful dresses of latest fashion, a dozen pairs of shoes & visiting beauty parlour often is her foremost duty. She is encircle by a few friends always on whom she is liberal to spend limitlessly. She has least knowledge how  the money is earned & how it should be used properly.

Thus six years passed,much water has been flown on Tames. Rimi's family condition has been better now than before. She is now a university student, she has few months left to have her Master's degree in Botany. She is very near to her dream today. One day while returning from the university she is standing at a bus stop ,then she notices that a smiling face is approaching towards her, she can easily recognise  her old friend Tina.

Tina warmly hugs her,Rimi couldn't believe that they can meet such a way after a long time. She can not match today's Tina & Tina she last met because she is wearing  an old dress & the pair of shoes in her feet is cobbled multiple times & she lacks the lust on her face she had. Whatsoever Rimi takes Tina to a nearby cafe for a cup of coffee which allows them to open themselves to each other.

In that meeting Rimi comes to know that the family condition of Tina's has been devastated. She loses her father suddenly after she passed class 10th exam. Two years later of that incident her mother fell ill, she had an acute heart disease for  which she had to undergo the bypass surgery. This surgery & its follow up treatment made the family exhausted. Her mother is totally bedridden now & Tina has to take care of her alone. Her mother has taken voluntary retirement from her service  & the little amount of pension she receives is the only source of income for the family.

The family was in much distress when Tina was duped by a person who promised to give her a chance in the movies in exchange of Rs. 5 lacs. This made her dream broken. The distressful condition of her family blocks the road of her studies further after her 12th . Today she was returning from an interview in a company for the post of sales girl. Rimi is amazed with the whole episode of Tina's life, however she consoles Tina saying not to worry, the bad time will surely be over. Then they bid farewell to themselves & went away. 

So friends what have you learnt from the above story? Surely I need not explain the moral to you because I believe that you are wise enough to understand yourselves. Be cautious in life about money & be happy.
