No matter poor or rich, be happy.
It is our natural concept
that the rich are happier than the poor. The rich have money, by which they can
avail everything they want, but the poor lack of money as well as the comfort.
This thinking is totally materialistic & is partially true. In this
material world everything is judged by the terms of material property. Broader
view point is needed to judge this scenario.
Now let me present a story
to discuss this matter.
There were two friends
namely Mr. Ajit Saxena & Mr. Raju Singh in the capital city of India
Mumbai. They both belong to middle class families. They were good friends to
each other. Mr. Saxena’s father was a capable person to sustain the expenses of
his son’s higher education which leads Ajit to avail his M.com degree in accountancy.
But Raju lost his father at his early age when he was in school & couldn’t
end his schooling and joined in a small work shop to run his family. It was the
last time at school both friends met together, after school life both of them
went to their respective ways.
Thus a long period of 30
autumns passed. Now Ajit is the owner of Saxena Export & Import Enterprise
with a turnover of Rs. 10 crores per annum. With much toil & sacrifice Ajit
has built up this company. He owns a bungalow in a posse area of the city &
living a luxurious life with his wife & two sons; Where Raju has had the
slap of his destiny & is trying his best to meet both ends together by
working a casual laborer in different places. He has to sustain his old mother,
wife & a daughter.
Recently Raju has joined a
company as a casual staff, his work is to load & unload the goods. But what
a farce! The company was none but his childhood friend Ajit’s company. Both of
these friends were unaware of it. Raju as usual works there as per his daily
routine, but bearing the load of the goods was a strenuous job for him, though
he has to do so for running his family & the education expenses of his
daughter who is doing her diploma in engineering. Raju was not a bad in his studies,
he had ambition in his life but his fortune played a trick on him, so he want
to see his ambition fulfilled through his daughter, she is his dream now. He
earns hardly Rs. 13,000/- per month by which he has to run his family.
One day while carrying a load on his back, Raju fell on the ground unconscious.
The co-staffs & the manager run to the spot & do the needful; it causes
a chaos in front of the office. By that time the owner of the company was just
entering to the office premises with his car. Hearing the shouting of the mass
he got down from his car & went forward to the spot. By this time Raju also
recovered from his unconsciousness. It was not so easy to recognize a childhood
friend after a long time but it is time which sweeps away our memory &
recovers the same like the waves of the sea.
When two pairs of eyes met, those two old friends could recognize themselves. Ajit warmly greeted Raju to his office chamber. They are both happy & astonished in this moment. After a long time Ajit has found out such a man to whom he can share his all words. Ajit asked Raju how he was. Raju said, “I am fine & happy with my family, I have scarcity in my family it is obvious, but my family never complaints, they are very much supportive, money has never created a chaos among us.”
Raju then smilingly said,”I will not ask
you how you are, because it will be foolish question. Your present status shows
the answer.” A miserable-smile appears for a second on Ajit’s face, after a
short pause Ajit said, “My dear friend, you have certainly heard the saying
‘Everything which glitters is not gold’, the same is also with me.” Raju being puzzled said,” I couldn’t
understand what you want to mean.” Ajit added,” Frankly speaking I am a
millionaire now, but to attain this I have lost my health, my two sons are none
but mere rascals, they love my money more than me; there is no peace in my
family, my wife is bedridden so she couldn’t take notice of my sons. I am very
much depressed with those perverted sons. The God has given me a lot &
snatched a lot also.” A deep agony darkens Ajit’s face. Raju sighed & said,”
Thank God! I am not a rich man.”
